The Women's Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh was one of the first six domestic violence programs in the country, and now serves 8,000 women and children each year in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. WC&S's mission is to end intimate partner violence in the lives of women and children. WC&S works to achieve that goal through an umbrella of services including a 24-hour hotline and an emergency shelter that is able to house up to 36 women and children at a time. Women's Center also offers resident and non-resident counseling services, legal and medical advocacy, and school and community education.
